Introduction

Prayer Unlock ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and disclosed when you use the Prayer Unlock iOS application.

Prayer Unlock is designed with privacy at its core. The app operates almost entirely on your device, with no user accounts, no tracking, and no analytics.

Information We Collect

Information stored on your device

Prayer Unlock stores the following data locally on your device only:

  • Prayer completion timestamp — the date and time you last confirmed a prayer, used to determine your lock/unlock state.
  • Prayer streak count — the number of consecutive days you have prayed, displayed in the app for encouragement.
  • App and category selections — the apps and categories you choose to lock, stored as opaque system tokens provided by Apple's Family Controls framework.
  • Preference settings — your chosen unlock duration and onboarding completion status.

All of this data is stored in your device's local storage (UserDefaults) and in a shared app group used solely for communication between the main app and its system extensions. None of this data is transmitted off your device.

Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal contact information.
  • We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data.
  • We do not track your app usage, browsing habits, or activity patterns.
  • We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or any third-party tracking SDKs.
  • We do not access your camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, or health data.

Screen Time & Family Controls

Prayer Unlock uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls framework to temporarily restrict access to apps you select. This requires your explicit authorization during setup.

Key privacy details about this functionality:

  • The app uses the individual authorization mode — it manages your own device only, not a child's or family member's device.
  • App selections are represented as opaque tokens generated by Apple. Neither Prayer Unlock nor any third party can read the actual names or bundle identifiers of your selected apps.
  • The Device Activity Monitor extension runs on-device to track when your unlock window expires and re-apply restrictions. It does not log or transmit any usage data.
  • Shield configuration and shield action extensions customize the lock screen appearance and behavior. They operate entirely on-device.

Subscriptions & Payments

Prayer Unlock offers optional subscriptions (weekly and yearly plans) processed entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit framework. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information. All billing, receipts, and subscription management are handled by Apple according to their privacy policy.

Notifications

The app may request permission to send you local notifications to remind you to pray or inform you when your apps have been re-locked. These notifications are generated entirely on your device and are not sent through any external push notification service.

Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose any user data to third parties. The only network communication the app makes is to Apple's App Store for subscription management, which is a standard iOS system function.

Prayer Unlock contains no third-party SDKs, analytics frameworks, or advertising libraries.

Data Retention & Deletion

All data is stored locally on your device. You can reset all app data at any time by using the reset option within the app's settings. Uninstalling Prayer Unlock will permanently delete all stored data from your device.

Because we do not collect or store any data on external servers, there is no data for us to retain or delete on our end.

Children's Privacy

Prayer Unlock is not directed at children under 13. The app uses Screen Time APIs in individual mode only (managing your own device) and does not collect any personal information from any user, regardless of age.

Security

Your data is protected by iOS's built-in filesystem encryption and app sandboxing. Since all data remains on your device and is never transmitted to external servers, the risk of unauthorized access is minimized.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
