Psalm 100
A psalm of pure thanksgiving — "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving."
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness:
come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the Lord he is God:
it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the Lord is good;
his mercy is everlasting;
and his truth endureth to all generations.
Amen.
About this prayer
Psalm 100 is the shortest and gladdest of the psalms — five verses of nothing but thanksgiving. It has been set to music more times than nearly any other text in scripture (the Old 100th, the doxology, countless modern songs). It is meant to be sung loudly.
When to pray it
First thing in the morning. Before a meal. On a good day, to anchor it. On a hard day, to remember.
